Hello everyone! I am brand new to Backyard Chickens and wanted to introduce myself. I have two chickens as pets, one is a Barred Rock and the other is a Barnevelder. I have had them for almost a year now. They like to follow me around and sometimes welcome themselves into the house. I have a lot of other pets too. I have 1 dog, 3 cats, 2 rabbits, 2 goats, and the 2 chickens. They are a handful, but it's worth it for how much joy they bring. We actually built a chicken coop ourselves for the chickens, and also an aviary to protect them from hawks, but almost everyday they are let out of their coop to explore and play (but with supervision). The chickens get along great with the rabbits and are always curious in what they are doing and what they are eating. The dog gets along great with all of the animals and never shows any interest in them. I hope to use this site to answer all of my chicken questions.

They are pretty mellow, but I do put in a good amount of effort to care for them. But their personality and joyful spirit makes up for it!
