Hi I am Anneke. Below is a bit of info regarding myself
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? We started a few months ago, but are very much still beginners

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 8 hens and are thinking of getting a rooster

(3) What breeds do you have? Red Shavers

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Google

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Hiking, photography

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I have 2 sons both in their 20's. We live in New Zealand and I work in the export departmwnt for a sawmill.

There's lots of good information on BYC. It can be a lottery with roosters.

So glad you joined us at Backyard chickens . You may want an older (not old) rooster so you can see what his temperament is like. Main thing is non aggressive to his flock and most importantly respectful of humans.
