Hey all
Im from Denmark, and still new to chickens. I researched a lot about chickens and fell in love with the large wyandottes, their uses as dual purpose and their colours. I hatched about 60 of them this spring, of course with a poor male/female ratio.
In addition I got 9 Red Bourbon chickens 5,4 and a bronze chicken 0,1.
I love seeing them grow up and look so much forward to getting eggs from this bunch and meat, that actually taste like chicken. Currently we get a few eggs from some old isa browns we took over with the property.
I decided to join BYC because this forum is massive and has so much information on colour genetics. I'd love to attempt black laced buff. The black laced gold here is bred to be quite dark which unfortunately makes them loose the lovely contrast in their pattern. It would probably be easier to just select for lighter golds, but easy is not fun!
I look forward to learning a lot more about chickens!
