Hi I am Missy from Grace of God homestead I started with a few chickens in May of 2019. I fell in love fast and with the recent quarantine and having 2 incubators....lets just say things escalated quickly. In the past year we have went from a few chickens to many chickens, ducks, turkeys, and meat chickens. I have always dreamed of living on a homestead and being self sufficient and i just saw the quarantine as a time to make that happen. As for an accurate count of chickens we have 122 chickens from day old to 2 years old. 16 turkeys, 10 ducks, and 126 meat chickens. WHEW thats a lot!

The breeds vary, we have Isa Brown, Sapphire Gem, Easter Eggers, Americauna, Marans, Rhode Island Red, Light Brahma, Black Sexlinks, Australorps, White leghorn, Indian jungle fowl, Yokohama, Partridge rocks, polish, silkies, barred rock.....i think i got em all. Sorry if i spelled names wrong too. Our barn yard mixes are from 2 easter egger roosters and a australorp or jersey giant we are not sure completely on him...and the isa brown, easter egger, saphire gem, rhode island red, light bramha, and australorp hens.

I'd say my favorite aspect is just relaxing out in the yard with them giving them snacks. i love when i can walk out and say here chick chick chick and all the little chubby butts run and half fly to me lol.

Some of my other hobbies are gardening, cooking, playing with my 4 german shepherds.....anything arts and craft i enjoy.

My family consists of my father my hubby and my three kids. Me my dad and my middle son are the chicken farm people, the rest could care less and actually dread helping me with anything farm related. I have cleaned houses for the past 10 years and with the quarantine i was unable to keep doing that, as most of my clients were older. Now that it is time to get back to work i just want to stay home and work on the farm. So there is a transition happening there and i think it is the right move. Our other pets include 5 cats, 4 dogs, and 3 bunnies.
I heard about this place through google searching questions and i wanted to join so i could ask questions and share things from our little piece of heaven.

:frow Hi, welcome! Yup, chickens will keep you busy! I clicked "Easter Eggers" in your poll, but really wished I could check more than one. This spring we added Black Australorps to our flock, and we really like them, too. They are just now coming up to POL and have great personalities! Even the cockerels we ordered gave us no trouble. Maybe we just like chickens .... Lol.
