Chirping
Hello, everyone! I’ve been low-key stalking this site for the past few weeks, learning how to take care of my husband’s chickens. I figured it was about time to officially join the flock.
My husband has had chickens off and on since high school, but feathered fowl are new to me. Our flock consists of 8 adult birds and 15 chicks. Five of those chicks are from our own hens; the others were purchased at a local store. The adults are a mix of Ameraucanas (including the rooster) and barred rocks. The store bought chicks are a happy rainbow of breeds: speckled Sussex, jersey giants, Brahmas, and marans. We basically keep chickens for their entertainment value. We love watching them interact with each other and the world around them. But, of course, the eggs are nice, too!
I’m looking forward to continuing to learn from the many voices of wisdom in this group! (Especially since I’m currently having a problem with one of our chicks, so I will be posting it in a different thread.) But, thanks in advance for the advice!
