Hello, my name is Tacia (Tasha) and I live in Alaska.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I still consider myself new to chickens, we have had chickens for three years and learning all the time.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
At this time we have eighteen chickens (one is the neighbors that will never stay home so we have all agreed she can stay).

(3) What breeds do you have?
We have 7 Bielefelders, 4 Speckled Sussex, 3 Easter Eggers, 1 Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, 1 Egyptian Fyoumi , 1 Red Sex Link and we don't know what the neighbors chicken is but she is black and sweet with green tinted feathers.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love everything about them. We are trying to incubate some eggs for the first time. I put them in the incubator yesterday not even knowing about the Hatch group on here. I guess I must join. :) We love having fresh eggs, love spending time with them, giving them treats, breeding... all of it.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Hiking, anything outdoors, cross country skiing, walking, jogging, chickens, bunnies, gardening...

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have 5 daughters, a wonderful and supportive husband, 1 St. Bernard, 1 cat, two bunnies, 18 chickens and hopefully more on the way.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :Dm
I found BYC by googling online...about three years ago and reading about the Easter Hatch is what made me decide to post something. :)

Welcome to BYC Tacia! This awesome community of poultry keepers and experts will be very excited to jump in and answer whatever questions you may have. 😊
