Hi everyone,
Y'all can call me pl. I'm retired, living in PA with 4 litter-mate cats and currrently 3 Freedom Ranger Chickens. They are about 5 years old and one has been retired from laying for about a year, shortly after my 4th girl died from something stuck in her craw. I know I won't have them for much longer, but they are good girls. They only take off a month and a half in the winter (no light in the coop) but otherwise give me 2 eggs a day. Margaret is the small but bossy retired one. Rosie is a sweetie who survived a broken leg (set with a popsicle stick years ago). And Olivia is the big no-nonsense one who lays huge extra jumbo eggs. It's Olivia's current malady that brought me to this forum, as well as needing support with dealing with end-of-life issues with all of them.
Thanks for offering this community of Backyard Chicken tenders.

Hello Pl from PA, -BYC-sign-flash.gif Never easy to lose a pet.

Thanks
Hello, PL, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
What is wrong with Olivia? I know how difficult it can be to lose flock members. I lost three within a 2 week period. It was very difficult. :hugs
I gave a time-line of Olivia's problem in a thread starting "Elderly chicken..." about 30 min. ago. Don't know what;s wrong, hoping someone has seen this problem before. Constant squating like she can;t support her huge body...still eating and walking slowly about and scratching and laying.
