Hello! I've had chickens for 10 years, since I was 15 years old and my mom decided to get some chicks. Those initial 5 little beings melted my heart, and I've never been the same since. I kept them in my room and took care of them obsessively, and I'm still doing that with the chickens we have now. Currently, we have 6, all 7 year old hens. I consider them a part of my family, even though they live outside and don't like being handled. I don't view them as "food"; to me, they're the same as cats or dogs. Their names (in order of pecking order rank) are: Bon, Neo, Rocky, Vera, Fleur, and Red. I just joined tonight because Fleur has gout, and I'm very worried about her, so I want to be able to ask the intelligent, experienced people here how to best care for her. Looking forward to learning!

@sarahbobo. :frow Welcome from New Orleans. What an interesting story about how you came to own chickens. Do you eat the eggs?
Hope you find the answer for your question.
