Welcome to BYC! This is a great community of people who know so much about poultry and are willing to help others learn, too.

I like that you are aware of the "harsh realities," because no matter how much you try to do the right things. there can be disappointments. When that happens, there are a lot of folks here who will be happy to help you figure out your next move, to cheer you when things go well and to support you if things don't.

I've never had ISA Browns, but one of my first chickens was a Rhode Island Red who loved to scratch on the ground, so I named her Ginger Rogers. She was beautiful.
