(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I grew up with chickens, first chance in a decade or so that I have been able to have a flock.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
10 at the moment should have about 65 by EOY and 15 turkeys thrown into the mix for good measure.
(3) What breeds do you have?
at the moment silver laced wyandottes, blue rocks, ISA and EE. Getting buff orpingtons, barred rock, black australorps, blue laced red wyandottes and more EE.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Great fun for the family, enjoy watching and interacting with some interesting characters and of course lots of eggs
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
photography, DIY, arts and crafts, looking after a variety of animals and sewing, knitting, embroidery the list goes on
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
have a very supportive hubby with 3 kids (of the human variety), currently a domestic engineer trying to set up a small dairy farm (goats not cows).
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Found it while researching some information on breeds I was selecting for our flock. Decided to join because there seems to be many knowledgeable people who might help with any unexpected questions that might arrise.
