Introduction

Hi. Great to meet you. I've been downloading recipes on the dubya, dubya, dubya for years. Irritating.
Glad to have you here. There's way more info than ads here. Great people make this place awesome.
Pictures of birds, please.
Working on the coop, too.

Nice coop. Looks like your putting a covered run which is smart for safety. Flying predators and foreign infiltrators looking for food and dropping avian flu on the way out. Dandelions, no palm trees, looks like the Midwest (?).
Yup midwest fer sure.
Yeah, I plan to run the roof of the run at the same pitch as the roof, creating a peak, if you will. I think it will look nice and make the seem between the coop and the run more seamless...
trying to decide on the mesh/fencing type. 1/2 hardware mesh for the vertical for sure, and buried a bit with lumber...
The top of the run is what I am trying to decide on. Not sure which option.
1. The same as the sides
2. Chicken wire
3. 2x4 welded wire fencing
We have raccoons and possums for sure. But the neighbor had his free range and nothing really bothered his... but then he did have a couple dogs.
Read a few threads on here, and I am still struggling.

Welcome! Cover your run with a solid roof. You'll be happy that you did. That will allow you to keep feed and water outside the coop.
Free ranging is wonderful...until its not. I do free range, but every now and then I have to keep them locked in. Sometimes it's a bobcat, fox, or cayote hanging around. Sometimes it's eagles or hawks. And sometimes, it's just lousy weather. It's also great to have a generous, and secure run, if you can't be at home to keep an eye on them.
Good luck to you and your flock!
