Hi everyone, finally decided to make an account after lurking a while.
I have 5 golden laced wyandotte hens, 1 black wyandotte hen and a blue Ameraucana rooster as well as 3 chicks one of the hens hatched out 5 weeks ago!
I chose these breeds because we live in a rural area in Alberta so we get extremely cold temperatues and wind chills, we have an unheated, insulated but ventilated coop and they all did awesome over the winter, no frostbite. We got given the rooster from a kind lady nearby, we were actually looking for one anyway as i didn't want a GLW rooster due to the large comb. We are hoping two of these chicks are pullets (will post pictures of them in a separare thread for guesses) so we can get some green shelled eggs!

I've made that cross (blue EE x glw) in the past. I got beautiful, blue and black laced, olive egger pullets. May your pullets outnumber your cockerel 2 to 1!

Thanks! Thats great to know. I wasn't sure if they would be classed as olive or green! Cool! I am really surprised at how much they are like the roo, they are all starting to get little beards in, though their combs appear to be more like a rose than a pea. And I love that the three of them are all laced differently.
