Hello All,
Just wanted to post a quick introduction. My name is Matt. My wife, 1.5yr old daughter and I live in Whittier, Ca and we got our first chickens 6 weeks ago. We also have 2 dogs and 2 cats so we are definitely animal lovers. Over the past few years I've been transforming our urban yard into an urban "farm" of sorts. Chickens have always been a wish for egg production and fresh manure (for compost) and this summer we got to a place where it was feasible.
We currently have 14 birds, but will only be keeping 10 because of space limitations. We got all of our chickens from Alchemist Farm in Sebastopol, Ca. We have 6 different breeds: Double Silver Laced Barnevelder, Azure Egger, Heritage Welsummer, Sage Egger, Alchemist Blue, and German Bielefelder.
We have some local friends who have chickens, but I'm looking forward to being apart of this community for advice when needed.
