(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
i’ve had chickens my whole life, i first had 6 when i was very little so i didn’t really care about them, then we got 5 chickens that i cared about a lot but i was still little so i didn’t know a lot about chickens so i was always bothering them and wanting to carry them 24/7
then i got 4 and i loved them so much they were my favorites, they were really friendly and i could do anything with them (one of them would come sit on a chair and i would feed her salad, she was adorable i could literally bring her in the house lol) and then after them i got 5 of a different breed, i did all the same things but they just weren’t as friendly and were very like careful, even aggressive sometimes but i did train them not as well as the last ones but still trained them lolll
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
currently i have 2 but one of them will probably not make the night
i made this account mostly to help her urgently but there’s nothing i could do, i tried everything but unfortunately she’s old, she’s had problems before and i don’t think she can keep fighting.
the one i have left though, on a more positive note is so cuteee she has a small comb and deep voice shes a bit silly, she lovesss anything green even though lately her eyesight has been bad and she has trouble pecking what i give her if it’s hot (like 35 degrees its better when the weather isnt so hot). the one from the last batch of chickens i had that was just like that also lived the longest and had a massive glow up when she was the only one left somehow hahahah (her comb grew, she always had her neck and front without feathers but they all grew when she was alone so yeah lol)
(3) What breeds do you have?
lohann browns!! classic laying chickens
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
they are ADORABLEEE i love birds in general but just with their little heads and combs and theyre so silly and cute i love chickens
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
i like singing and dancing!! i was in choir for a long time and i loved it but i had to stop because of school, i also did dance for years but then covid happened and i stopped. i’m thinking about practicing dance again this fall maybe
i also like drawing but im not very good, i’m into fashion design too
ooh and im really good at languages i know russian, serbian (so croatian bosnian and montenegrin too
), english, italian, some german slovenian and spanish too and i want to learn french
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
im an only child but i live with my whole family like 15 of us hahahah
i have a cat!! she’s kinda mean but i love her she like climbs on my head and cuddles for ab 20 minutes and has enough hahahah she’s not very affectionate otherwise, she’d rather lay next to someone than on them but she like either rests her head on paw on you so she shows some affection
love her even though she doesnt even look at me when shes outside smh and she only comes inside to eat atp (shes 13 years and a hunter cat like the seller told us lol)
i also had a kitten but unfortunately hes not with us anymore( he was the sweetest ever thoughhh everyone loved him he was like a little puppy he always came when you called him he would cuddle a bit and he was always hunting something and playing all the time, he was so fast and he just loved to be around everyone <3 unfortunately he was very sick since we got him and the vet told us he probably didnt have a lot of time he was always coughing and had breathing problems
im in high school right now starting my last year, i still dont know what job or college i want ahahahah
uhhh what else im single but been in a fwb not really relationship kinda thing with a classmate for 2 years but i mighttt like a guy in my friendgroup but i dated his best friend so now its all complicated
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
i found the community when one of my other chickens was sick, but i lost the password unfortunately so i had to make a nee account! i’ve known for about 4 years?? maybe 5 but i’ve always loved this community and back then you guys helped me save one of my chickens so thank you so much for that <33
