Hi! Just registered. We're a 4H family with a layer flock and a bunch of show birds. Love all you guys' photos of incubators and coops and willingness to share how-tos! Hope we can contribute something, maybe our experience with different splay injury braces (lots of time nursing can end up wasted). Is there a searchable archive? I would look up incubator comparisons, splay injuries, AI, and worming info. We have limited/bad experience with homemade PVC chicken tractor (broke under snow load) and Little Giant & Hovabator foam incubators (unstable temp and motors wearing out). Any wisdom on these topics is welcome!

I hope you really enjoy your time here at BYC. But be forewarned! It's incredibly addictive!

It's a good idea to set a timer next to the computer while you're here. Otherwise, you'll end up like me and blowing 3 hours at a stretch when you thought you just got here!

I think there is a search thingy around here someplace, but I've never gone looking for it. I usually find what I want just by scanning through the first page or two of each forum. I know...I'm no help at all!

But, look around. I'm sure you'll find what you want. Post some pictures of your flock in the "Pictures and Stories of My Chickens" forum. We'd all love to see! And any time you need help, do just what you did here first...raise your hand and shout HELP!!! Someone will always be along shortly with either expert advice or, at the very least, words of encouragement! Enjoy! And

Hi and welcome! There's a "Search" button right above the "Post reply" button near the top right of this page. I've found LOTS of great info that way. And some people are working on a BYC Primer for this and other helpful navigation tips for newbies. I think it'll be in the Website & Forum Feedback & Announcements section of the forum. Please don't hesitate to share your experiences! Those of us who don't even have chickens yet can surely learn from you!
