Hi! I'm just trying to follow the rules and introduce myself!
I live on about 40 acres of mostly marsh near Madison, Wisconsin. We have 3 labs - one of each color, and three llamas. We are planning on adding 3-5 egg-laying chickens this spring. We also have 3 kids at home and 5 adult children too.
My first chicken related question is this: I have no desire to start with day-old chicks and am having a really hard time finding other options, assuming that I have to look locally so we could pick the birds up. I am really interested in Barred Rocks, but would be interested in other pretty, standard-size, friendly, hardy, egg-laying breeds.
Any suggestions on where to look?
Sara
