Hello,

I have no poultry except for a few geese. Have had chickens, ducks, and such in the past.

I live in Northeast Texas, and have just survived one of our warmer summers. Although the heat was bad enough, grasshoppers were worse. It is my intention to buy a few ducklings, chicks, and keets next spring. I would like to have a few hens for eggs, but the others will be for insect control. No idea if that will actually work, but want to give it a try. To be honest, the racket of most ducks and guineas makes me nervous. Have not selected the breeds yet, but I will.

I enjoy growing plants of most kinds. Main interest (right now) is cactus (especially epicactus), but almost any plant that will grow here is welcome. Genetics is a huge interest, and I like nothing more than trying to create something new. Never happen, of course, but that's okay.
