This is me with my owner, rescuer and hen as she is trying to keep me from dominating the photo. My name is Mr. Softy and for the first 6 months of life I belonged to a 10 year old girl who did take care of me until I only received a red ribbon at the 4-H fair. After that care was limited to a small bird cage, food and water like a prisoner where I bit off my tail and wing feathers and kind of just let myself go so to speak. Then one morning I was packed up in a shoe box and taken to town to the local fur and feather swap. I was placed in a cage surrounded by other things mostly birds and a tag hung on my cage saying "Mean Rooster $10." Mean?, What did they expect I was loving until I was not good enough for them. That is when the lady in the photo happened by and felt sorry for me and the next thing I knew was I was back in that box again. This lady shocked me from day one, I was placed in a large dog kennel with a nice stick to perch on, plenty of room to spread my little wings, an elaborate seed mix and clean cool water with orange Gatorade mixed in. My only problem at this time was it came with a price, she wanted to pet and cuddle me but I was not having it at least not yet. She played a hard momma offering me treats of fresh fruit and veggie tidbits but the catch was that I had to eat from her hand. Then as winter set in I became her one and only focus but was a little more relaxed with her when she decided we could sit together on her very soft bed and watch TV. Ok so I was giving in to sappy kindness and living up to the name that I was given on the way home from the swap. By the end of winter I was taught to sit on old linens to potty, cuddling is actually quite enjoyable and had been introduced to a number of new foods that I enjoyed. Summer came and I was given my first bath and then taken outside to drip dry in the warm sun, I was not to happy about any of this but have come to tolerate a bath better to get the hair dryer afterward. Learned to sit somewhat still while having my nails and beak trimmed, gets over faster. I am now a well seasoned traveler and have been to 42 of the lower 48 in a semi truck, spend my summers as a historic re-enactor. I have been knighted, made captain of the Black Pearl, made a Corporal in the confederate army, am a Scottish mercenary, and a pre 1840's mountain man (chicken). I am fearless as I am around cannon, mortar and other black powder weapons with out shedding a feather. I enjoy meeting new people, having my picture taken, camping, going shopping in pet stores and cuddled up sleeping in my mommas arms every night. I am 6 yrs old now and very happy with my new life and owner.

I would love to see photos of all that
