(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
New as of 2018. Got 3 Australorps, 3 Buff Orpingtons. Raised them to egg-laying age then lost all but one to free-ranging fox. The survivor's name is Lucky. She has survived at least 3 fox attacks. Needless to say, we don't free range anymore. And Lucky just passed a couple of weeks ago.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Right now? Don't know. As of this morning I have 46 chickens in two coops.
I currently have 6 roosters! Tip: Don't order chickens online after a couple of bourbons. Accidentally chose straight run. Sure enough, it's about 50/50.
Anyone in the SW Ohio area need a rooster???

(3) What breeds do you have?

5 Light and 8 Dark Brahmas, 18 Buckeyes, couple of Barred Rocks, Easter Eggers, one Golden Wyandot.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

The freezing temperatures - trying to keep water in the coops during winter, frozen hands. Oh wait, favorite... Guess it would be the eggs. It also gets me out of the house.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Woodworking, Guitar, Bourbon, Gardening, Bees...

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

Two Malamutes (Ozzy and Lita) and one Boxer/Lab mix (Harley). Two barn kitties, (Ditty and Katie) and two feral kitties (Jet and Fluff Fluff). Jet is more tame than most house cats. 6+ beehives.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

One day was googling something about chickens and found this place. Seems like a lot of good info and is one of the few sites I can actually visit at work!! Don't tell them!!!
