Welcome to BYC!!Hello from Northeastern Kentucky! I am new to the BackYard Chicken family but have been using this resource for quite some time. (Do a search for questions about chickens and BYC pops up a lot thankfully)
I currently have 9 chickens but I am giving 4 away to a lady who had her entire flock killed by a coyote.
I am currently raising 1 Australorpe hen, 2 Light Brahma hens, and 6 Sapphire Gem hens (4 of the gems are getting re-homed)
I raised chickens for the majority of my childhood but that came to an end when I moved out on my own. Thankfully the price of eggs went up and I looked at my wife and said "That's it, I'm buying chickens." It was a good enough excuse for me to get back to it.
My 2 youngest, 11 and 3, love the chickens but my 2 oldest, 20 and 18, really couldn't care less about them2 out of 4 isn't bad.
I am currently considering getting an Ameraucauna, Easter Egger, or Light Brahma rooster to look after my hens since they are free ranging even though we only have a little over a half of an acre. It's enough for them I think. (If anyone nearby has one let me know!)
If you are on here chances are I have used some information you have provided to answer question I have had so thank you for that and I am glad to be on here with like minded people.
Hope everyone has a great time and thanks for letting me join!
