I have been fooling around with my Dorkings in hope to eat on a few and develop some for consumption. We processed a 5 month old roo the other day and my wife fixed it for dinner tonight. It was great. I was surprised at the diffrence it meat texture and taste. Not as meaty as my Cornish X's, but real good flavor. I look forward to more. Wanted to share-ya'll have a good night.

I am glad that you had success.

I can't wait to try to raise my own meat birds.

we had buff orpinton the other day, what a delight he was. real tasty, not tough, but had the crispness of a fresh veggie

Jenny , on the weight I'd guess three pounds. He was a very "opressed male" though. My head boy is a bigger. I'll let you know when I get some eggs.

I too have been wondering about dorkings for a while. I would like to get some myself and try them. It was nice to hear from someone who had actually eaten one. thanks.

I plan on feeding the the next batch of roos more protein and seeing if it helps them get a little bigger quicker.
