Iowa Blues - Breed thread and discussion

Some photos for grins...I don't think I've posted these.

This guy is the results of an F1 Silver IB cockerel x Lavender Ameraucana Bantam hen. I love this bird, he's a hoot. Looking foward to crossing him back on Iowa Blues this season. Interesting chest patterning (blown up on the right).

This guys is one of the silver IBs growing out in the juvenile pen. His breast appearance is all over the place.

This guy is 1/4 SPR - 3/4 IB. That slow feathering gene from the SPR is certainly still there, he's taking forever to gain his adult plumage.

Another silver IB cockerel in the grow out pen with more lacing than spangling of the breast.

You have some nice projects going on there Connie!

I'd really like to make the show on Mother's Day if possible. It's been too long since I've seen all of you and your beautiful birds!

I'm in need of some more starts to grow out. If any of you guys ever hatch out more than you planned on and need to get rid of some, think of me

Connie;
Would you be able to supply me with hatching eggs for the school project here? You will get them back at Avoca if you wish. I could use nearly 60 eggs! its an easy way to get some good birds, and someone else pays the electric bill! That goes for any of you that could supply me with eggs. Unless Waverly is after Easter, then I could bring them there.

I will happily donate eggs, Eric, but YOU have to keep the chicks!

It's too cold to ship anything right now and I'm not selling eggs while it's so cold that I can't tell if the eggs have been damaged each day (unless they are cracked open, of course), so until it warms up I don't have much to contribute.

the school project does not begin until late March anyway. They plan it so the eggs hatch just before Easter break.
If you don't want the chicks back, that's okay too1 I have takers for them, or we can use them as promotional items at shows.

Connie, do you have any lavender or other splits to cross him on? I'd love to see if you get a lavender. I have some to use with mine so I'll try to set up a pen with them later.

I've got one hen from the bantam line and several splits to lavender F1s in the incubator currently, large fowl.
