Iowa Blues - Breed thread and discussion

Still looking for chicks or eggs.
we have a hatch scheduled for the 28th of this month of Iowa chicks. We are not sending eggs at this time.

What colors are you looking for? We will not have any silvers available or guaranteed, just smokey, possible charcoal, and birchen variety at the moment.

PM me if you are interested in any chicks.

SIMPLY DELIGHTFUL!

A couple of weeks ago, I went down to the barn to find this beautiful sight. The ladies have really been busy right now and this picture proves they mean business.
There must be something wrong with them, they aren't all in the same nest

Hope everything is going well in all of your flocks. Things are looking a lot more uniform out in my coop ever since I pared down to just Iowa Blues. I'm pretty much done hatching chicks out for the year and its good thing too; my brooder is chalk full! Because we just got a new puppy and I'm beginning to prepare for fall horse shows, I've decided to let go of quite a few of my Iowa Blues going into next year. I plan on keeping enough to have one breeder pen but otherwise everything else is going. This past year has been crazy busy with the number of birds I've had to take care of on top of other commitments; I'm to the point where I need to take a break for the winter.

If any of you guys are interested in a few Johnston line birds, please feel free to shoot me a message on them. I hope to be able to make it to the presentation at the State Fair, but no guarantees quite yet.

A recent phone convo; has made some exciting ripples on the surface of the IB waters!
Seems an anxious self sufficient homesteader in Mass., has located a flock of what he says are unmolested, true breeding Iowa or Iowa Blues that has or has seen the receipt for their purchase from a hatchery in1947! He maintains that this flock has remained a heritage breed, on the old farm ever since! Hatching t's own generations of birds. I have forwarded a few pics to some club members but have not heard back yet. Brian, ad he has joined the IBCC!
Exciting event I am anxious to delve into Anyone want to work with me on this? Oh, I believe he said he was a biologist!

I would love to hear more about this flock. Where are the pictures posted of his birds?
