They handle Iowa winters just fine. I did keep their combs greased up but over all they were outside and very active last year

I think the temps will be near the same, probably more snow here but they will be inside so thats moot.

Anderson how did your hatch come out?

I hope to have my first IB eggs in the incubator by next week. As soon as I get notice they have been sent out I will probably go crazy till they get here. My early Christmas present to myself.

Great to hear. Any brown ones? One of my pullets that hatched in June is laying. Lifesong, I sent you a PM.

I just love seeing more and more people getting some of this rare breed and hoping to breed it forward.

Humidity issues suck. Sorry to hear that. My first couple hatches with my Faverolles I had shrink wrapping issues because of humidity.
Looking at this thread hers was the only post I had seen (havent gotten through the whole thing) with new chicks.

Yeah, it dropped to 32%. I opened all five of them up--beautiful chicks, completely formed, most yolk absorbed in 3, no pips. Very sad. This chick I posted is looking even cuter now. It has white mixed in the neck feathers. Beautiful weather here today, moved him and his compadres outside to the new coop with a lamp. They're having a blast! I'll get more eggs from MrHeinz in 2012, hopefully get enough for a little flock to continue breeding "snowbirds" here in Wesley Chapel.
