Iowa chicken noob here:)

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Before you start building your coop (wink, wink, hint, hint: don't buy one) please make sure you do your research in the Coop & Run Forum or read some of the more highly rated coop build articles AND comments to learn what chickens require for well designed and safe housing.

Welcome!
Have you started building a coop yet?
If not build it before you get sexed chicks from a MAJOR hatchery. (=less chance you bring home a disease)
I do have a coop. It is a prefab that I bought off of someone. I think it should work tho. I have a farmer close by who sells laying hens and we visited someone who's been buying their chickens from him for years and they are healthy girls.

Pre-fab coops are nearly always terribly designed with next to no ventilation, too small and made of cheap wood. Please post pictures of it.

We would have built or own and maybe will one day but buying a used coop was our option this go around. But we are not ashamed of messing up and learning:)

Post a picture of this coop?
It probably isn't big enough for 2 chickens.
