My polish top hat hens have a white-ish blue iridecent spot on each side of their heads. They are sort of behind the eyes but lower. Does anyone know what these are?

I think you must be seeing the "ear lobes". I'm not sure, but I think the color of the ear lobe is suppose to help determine what color of eggs they will lay.

Yes, those are the lovely shiny Polish ear-lobes you're noticing. All my Polish Top Hats, in 4 colors, have those blueish white lobes. Pretty! Wish the eggs were iridescent too

Silkies also have iridescent lobes. Not sure who else does.

They're earlobes. Any white earlobed breed, such as Polish, Crevecoeurs, La Fleche, Leghorns, Minorcas, Andalusians, etc - Can have a bright blue powdering on their normally white earlobe.

It is a sign of the bird laying white eggs, too.
