Irish Wolfhounds.

I had a wonderful dog that was half Irish Wolfhound--her mom was an IW but her dad was unknown (an accident as the mom was a show dog). Suki was the spitting image of a gray grizzly IW--just a little smaller. She weighed about 85lbs so we called her a Mini IW! She had their fabulous personality and wouldn't hurt a fly. She lived just 2 months shy of 17 years! Evidently her unknown dad passed down the longevity genes. I get all weepy when I see one--especially the gray grizzly ones....

I really like the wolfhounds. I had one and he would ride in the back of my pickup and look "over" the cab!lol. Unfortunately someone els liked to because they stole him.

I love IW too but I am impartial to my Borzois, they are so elegant and a coat like silk. IW are bred for being tough while Borzois like to be in the house. Both breeds are lovely sofa dogs LOL!

Yes I agree, wished their longetivity is much longer.

You have a Borzoi, too?

Yes I had three of them, all of them are gone now. The oldest died around nine years old.

All of them from Oaklara's and I adopted her champion female dog "Sparky" and the two boys Otto and Oakey. She was kind enough for me to have them and I cherished every moment I had with them even it was short but the impression was forever!

I would have loved to have more but she advised me to wait until my daughter is around middle school to high school because they can not tolerate little kids running around and highly excitable LOL. That I can understand that. My daughter loves to smother animals to death and it would not be a good idea. I have no time for a puppy so an young housebroken puppy fits us but I was very, very fortunate to have three perfect angels in my life. My hubby was not crazy about them because of their sizes but they all passed away not long when I started dating my boyfriend (now hubby). I remember Otto and Oakey's sire was Ice Cream, who unfortunately died of a stroke, and Otto came down with it and recovered completely but his skin infection at an advance age really was bad that I had to put him down along with my 15 year old cat, both on the same day. My heart was very heavy and I have not recovered from that completely. I wished I had said my goodbyes to them but I was working. my mother didn't bring them back for me to bury them...it was upsetting.

Loved them all!
