My mother's pet peeve is "have got" use one or the other - drummed it into my brain, now that she has been South of the 49th parallel she dose this all the time - drives me nuts & it is her fault.

Yep, the misuse of literally is one of my peeves. And I hate woof used as wolf.

Ugh! Ditto to that. Did anyone watch that Surviving Alaska series last fall on Discovery right after Deadliest Catch? The chubby cement worker from California kept repeating and I wanted to break my television. "I've got to shoot that woof. I mean, it's me or the woof. And that woof ain't getting my food! I worked hard and I'll kill that woof. I never thought I'd be shooting a woof!"

If we're discussing peeves, I'd have to say the misuse of the word 'ignorant' reallllllly ticks me off. Ignorant does NOT mean rude.

Here in Texas, we're often fixin to do something before we do it. And if anyone says something along the lines of "bless his heart, we like him just the way he is", it really means "that poor soul is stupid/befuddled/dumb/crazy and he can't help himself.

Woof is what a dog says
I wash not warsh
and the explicative that rhymes with fit only has one syllable
