My RIR started laying about two weeks ago and has laid pretty consistently almost every day. She last laid an egg on Friday. I have seen her go in and out of the boxes and spending time in there but there hasn't been anything. Feeling slightly over-anxious as a new Mama Hen I started getting worried she was beginning to get egg-bound. I read up on it yesterday and gave her a long warm bath. Everything looked clear around her vent and it was puckering a lot when I was drying her off. Still nothing as off this morning even though she has spent time in her favorite box. She doesn't seem uncomfortable and isn't walking funny. I'm just surprised because she's been so consistent so far and the eggs have been pretty much perfect. Strong shells. I'd been mixing oyster shell in their feed and giving them plain yogurt periodically. I put out a bowl of just oyster shell itself yesterday in addition to their feed. So, my question is have others experienced this and does it sound like she's just being irregular in her early egg-laying? Is there another way I can check to see if she's starting to be egg-bound given that everything seemed OK when I gave her a warm bath? Thanks in advance for the input!
