Just to update: I got the four 3-weeks old chicks and the four day-old chicks at the same time. I took them home and put all eight of them together in the same brooder. I've had them a couple weeks now - and they are doing great. Last night when I checked on them before I went to bed, they had actually paired off. One smaller one snuggled up close to one of the older ones. I wish I'd taken a photo. Anyway - for me - putting them together has worked out well...so far.
Yesterday was the first time we put ours together. They too, are 3 weeks apart. They are doing pretty good. The 2 3 week olds stay together and the older 10 6 week olds really don't pay much attention to them. So far, so good
