Is 6 1/2-9 weeks too early to crow? I heard a horrifying noise come from the basement that sounded like a cat hauking up a hairball, like when they do it and it kind of sounds like a goose. but only once, not repeatedly like a cat. The "teenagers" are the only ones down there. Could it have been an awkward first crow? Or should I be worried because they made that noise?

Nope--not too early. My silkie Mumbles started around that age and up till then I thought he was a she. Now that I have listened to him, I realized that the strangulated horrible noise coming from the brooder box is him trying to crow. Hilarious to listen to! He is very sweet though and is my baby so he gets to stay. Fortunately for us, he doesnt crow that much right now. Still finding his voice I guess!!!

Nope , my LIght Brahma Roo crowed earlier than that and his brothers were a close second to him! Sorry

Im not sorry that I have a rooster. I, unlike many people, dont care if I have roosters. lol. I have had many many roosters all together with little problem for many years. and I hear it again. right now, twice in a row. hmmm.... gonna go down and see who it is.
