Local eggs you can pick up if you are knowledgeable and allowed to see the farm and ask questions and can be a wonderful way to get connected to local farms. There is a network of homesteading folks and also smaller farmers such as ourselves that want families to remember how our food supply originally was here in America....It's part of what we do, as we certainly will never be rich....
I won't stay in judgment of the prices but I think her price is fair considering that the feed and care put into animals is extensive but I do think that either local eggs and/or working with people on BYC, where you can ask questions, see their feedback reviews, etc. is very important. Not trying to judge those in other markets such as M.Bulletins etc, but it is so helpful to know as much as you can....
Also, yes go to incubating section.....I think for your children to see the miracle of a chickens birth from an egg is as those charge cards say "priceless".....I wish you were near to me, I'll love to show them around and let them see the little miracles everywhere from bunnies, chickies, goats, and more.
Best of luck with your ventures and have a blessed day.
PS. You might also check the ohio page here and see if there are some BYC members selling eggs....or post over in the WTB section!
