Is $.85 a good price for rhode island reds and Araucana eggs

I'm selling fertile eggs locally this year, and getting much more for them than that. I think 10.00 is a good deal for the experience it will buy for you and you daughter. HAVE FUN WITH IT! and good luck, be sure to jump on the incubating thread for lots of advice and hatching partners. Non shipped local eggs should have a great hatch rate for you. If you don't want to keep or use the roos that will hatch (50% is a good guess) ask the seller if she will be willing to take them back once you can identify them as roos. I do that for my customers and they love me for it.

I've been prepping my DD that we will need to get rid of the boys. My dad's friend lives on a farm and is very frugal always taking the extra deer meat and caught fish. He offered to take them for free. I've never bought eggs before so I didn't know what a going rate was.

thanks for all the advice everyone.

Local eggs you can pick up if you are knowledgeable and allowed to see the farm and ask questions and can be a wonderful way to get connected to local farms. There is a network of homesteading folks and also smaller farmers such as ourselves that want families to remember how our food supply originally was here in America....It's part of what we do, as we certainly will never be rich....

I won't stay in judgment of the prices but I think her price is fair considering that the feed and care put into animals is extensive but I do think that either local eggs and/or working with people on BYC, where you can ask questions, see their feedback reviews, etc. is very important. Not trying to judge those in other markets such as M.Bulletins etc, but it is so helpful to know as much as you can....

Also, yes go to incubating section.....I think for your children to see the miracle of a chickens birth from an egg is as those charge cards say "priceless".....I wish you were near to me, I'll love to show them around and let them see the little miracles everywhere from bunnies, chickies, goats, and more.

Best of luck with your ventures and have a blessed day.

PS. You might also check the ohio page here and see if there are some BYC members selling eggs....or post over in the WTB section!

Are you happy with what you see?
How is her fertility of her flock?

Those are important qeustions
