Is a 3 foot high run high enough?

from my experiance, I would do 4' high, it will make it easy on the back to do anything in there, plus 2x4's come in 8' , just cut them in half.

We are planning on doing ours 3ft high, with a roof on most of it (probably hinged). It will actually detache from the coop to be used as a tractor too. Dh is designing it. Which will make easy clean up either way and be very accessible. I am only 5'2" so a 4' high is just too high for me to easily lean into, but I can easily step over 3'. We were also given 12 pieces of 3'6" lengths of 2x3 so the free wood decided it. Under the coop will be enclosed also to use as run space too, but will only be 2' high.
Oh and we are in CT so lots of wild New England weather.

As I was driving to pick up my daughter from school i was thinking about whether it could have wheels welded on it. That would be interesting... make it mobile in the warmer weather. Have to to see what my DH thinks of that plan

If that was the case, should I create a "floor" of chicken wire or some equivalent so that the birds would be protected from predators of it was mobile?

Did that 3' high coop work for you? I am building one and was going to make it that height and make it hinged to lift.
