im probly getting 8 chicks today or tommorow and want to know if I can use a 60wat light bulb.they will be in one of those plastic tubs and in my warm room. The bedding will be shavings so im just wondering if there gonna be warm enough.I usially use 250wat light bulbs but I accidently broke it so my mom would have to drive a very long way just to get another at the farm store.thx

You know im not sure about that. I would think they would need more heat than a 60 watt. Does your mom need milk or eggs?

You could eat all of the food in the house and drink all of the milk so you can get to town and get yourself a red heat bulb.

I used a 85 watt red flood light from Walmart. It worked just fine. I started with a 75 watt black light for reptiles and it worked too. I tried a 60 watt bulb when the black light burnt out but it needed to be put too close to the chicks for my comfort. As long as it keeps them warm and they can't get hurt because it is too close it will work.

Ok I came home from school about 2 hours ago,i had gotton 10 chicks(not 8 like I was supposed to but who cares) all seemed fine and healthy but when I noticed my only little polish chick.on her right foot its all swelled up not to much though and its red with a lil purple too.and she is holding that foot up to.Plz help,oh teah my mom said shes gonna get a 150wat light bulb
