Is a Chicken considered a "bird"?

I will take exception to your statement that chickens are not pets. The number you have, the reason you have them and your relationship to them determine whether any animal is a pet or not. People commonly consider dogs to be pets, yet not all dogs are kept as pets. Some are kept as watch or guard dogs, some are kept for crime or security work, some for hunting or finding objects, some for herding, etc. And of there, some also double as pets and some do not. It really is the same for any animal.

Really, seriously, READ what I wrote, don't read INTO what I wrote. I know you feel the need to argue with me on this (as has been evidenced in other threads). I have said previously and I am saying now AGAIN, yes, chickens can be pets. I have said that about a hundred times. I did not say that it was MY OPINION that they should not be considered pets (my opinion about my birds has zero to do with how I think other people should view theirs anyway). News flash- My opinion is not LAW. My opinion is that in most places, most people (other than the people that keep them) do not consider them to be pets. As I asked you previously in another thread, what exactly are you disagreeing with? It sounds like you are disagreeing with something I haven't even said, nor alluded to. I have said, now many times over, that I believe that some people see their chickens as pets and they should be allowed to do so. That has absolutely ZERO to do with the law and how the law sees them. Recognizing something called reality does not mean that I take the opinion that I agree with the reality of the law.

That is like saying, oh, I recognize that some places it is legal to beat your wife because she is seen as property (not a human being), so I think we are not human beings and should be beaten. Do you understand how nonsensical and illogical that is? Recognizing that the law or public opinion exists does not mean that I necessarily agree or disagree with it. I believe that most people (again, other than "chicken" people and quite honestly, a lot chicken people too) see them as livestock, not pets. That doesn't mean that I think that they A. Can't be pets and B. That other people do not have the right to see them as such. It is truly beyond me what is so hard to grasp.
