I am new to this (first hatch in progress, day 17)and I am wondering if the forced air add on is worth getting. If so what is the advantage and what temp and humidity should I maintain.

Wether or not it's worth buying, I don't have an LG, so I couldn't tell you.

The advantages of forced air are a more consistant temperature throughout the incubator, faster temperature and humidity recovery and easier to control humidity, as the moving air evaporates the water faster, letting you know sooner if things are out of whack.

Humidity opinions around here are all over the place. I would try 45%~55% for the first 18 days and up it to 60%~70% for the hatch. Lots of variables. Room RH, evevation above sea level, barometric pressure. . . .

Good luck to you.

I'm in the same situation. Would a draft-free location help with not having forced air?

If you have a 12 volt power supply laying around..
I can send you a small computer fan for $1 plus whatever it cost to ship..
I can even walk you thru how to install it..
Thats what I did with my LG..
And then I bought 10 fans for 9.99 on Ebay

I figure they will come in handy this summer if I have any chicks in my "ICU" cage

I would think it would. One less thing that is changing the environment the 'bator is dealing with.

I believe the draft free location helps more with keeping the temperature stable in the incubator
