Is a Little Giant incubator a good deal or just "Cheep, cheep."?

I've heard about all kinds of incubators, I wold love to hatch my own eggs but I'm worried about the incubator itself:(. I've
looked online at several incubators and the LG still air seems a good price, but I've heard bad things about it.

I'm on a budget, so could you tell which incubator is good quality but doesn't exceed over $120.00?

I'd appreciate it.

I really don't want my eggs to never hatch.

Brinsea has a sale!!! and also.. for more eggies... 1588.. I am very happy with mine. LG...for a hatch or two might be okay...never cared for the wafer thing... to unreliable... I would never hatch expensive shipped eggs in one... It depends on whether your eggs are important to you ... which way you jump. If I was going to order a bator for just a few now and then... most bang for your buck in a brinsea... If I wanted more eggies.. 1588.. If I didn't care how many of my back yard mutts I hatch ..I would go LG and get the turner too.

sorry to ramble.. you should talk to me in person... that is worse.. ha ha

Some people love them and most seem to hate them. I had one as my first incubator and hated it, after only using it for 2 weeks I upgraded to the 1588 and LOVED IT! I now use an incubator I built, and it's even better than the 1588. IMO it's worth it to spend the extra Dollars to get a better incubator, you will get better hatches. Check out the Brinsea website, I have heard great things about them!

I have an LG forced Air with auto turner and haven’t had much luck with it. Though I do know there are people on here that have had excellent results. So my luck could be because I have a bad unit, bad thermometer/hygrometer at first, bad incubation procedures, or just plain bad luck. Now I will state that all the eggs I have tried have been shipped eggs. Some of the boxes they arrived in looked like they were sat under an elephant.

I have done 3 hatch attempts. The first 23 made it to lockdown with 7 chicks hatch but 3 died from unknown causes after hatch. Second had 4 make it to lockdown with only one live chick – pipped at the pointy end and I had to help it out or it wouldn’t have even been here. The third and just finished had 17 make it to lockdown but only 5 live chicks hatched. So far they are doing good though. I now have a spot check thermometer so know my temperatures were good and calibrated they hygrometer prior to setting the eggs. This last hatch though, I had the fan and thermostat go out on day 21 after one hatched while I had 3 pips. I had to fix the thermostat fast and the temp only got down to 93 but the fan stayed off until after the hatch was complete. I lost several due to shrink wrapping – even though they hadn’t pipped yet. I don’t know why it quite but it now works fine. Very strange.
