Is a pvc feeder safe?

First option is my favorite, I use something similar. The only thing I would add is to exten the tops out past the run wall. This makes it so much easier to fill them without going through the trouble of going into the coop. The long trough is great, but my birds will perch on anything and everything so I don't want the poop creating a bacteria overload in the food.

I love the idea of being able to fill them without going inside. I need to incorporate that. Thanks so much!

I'm 6'1, I build my run 5'...I'm 42 now. It kills me to bend over like that. So my new run is 8' so I can freely walk in it. Life lesson! lol

Lol that's what we're building our new one; 8' tall. We've always built them up at least 6' and it's worked with us being on the short side but 8' tall walls will be a beautiful thing in the long run

We've got our design for their run and coop shed all laid out but now we're struggling with ideas for heating and cooling it without electricity. Any suggestions?

For my run all year I use PVC clear UV panels, allows light and heat in without being excessive. My coop is insulated on the roof and floor. I don't add any additional heat for them in the winters other than about 9" of chopped straw with 2" of sand in the coop.

I forgot about the uv panels.

Here are the ideas we came up with; a plastic bottle air conditioner in the summer and covering the shed roof with a solar pool blanket in the winter. Do you think these could work relatively well?

I used coroplast on my coop roof, in winter it stays warmer, especially with the greenhouse effect inside. In summer I open all the doors and vents, the birds spend almost all their time outdoors anyway.

Make it as fancy as you like, but it’s not really necessary.
