Is a Rooster necessary?

Hi, This is probably a very silly question but I was just wondering if I need to keep a rooster as well, in order for the hens to lay?

Nope! Just hens are fine!!

Nope, the rooster will help protect his flock, but his main purpose is if you want fertilized eggs for more chicks. So if you just want the eggs for consumption, No rooster is needed.
