Is a scissor beak a dominate trait?

Is scissor beak a dominate trait? My husband slipped an egg into the last batch we hatched that may have been from a Silkie hen that has a scissor beak. The rooster is also a Silkie. The other option is a Silkie/Cochin cross. I'm wondering what the chances are that the chick will have a scissor beak. Darn husband! The chick is so cute and has 5 toes.

I recently asked a master breeder about this trait. It is generally reguarded as a lethal gene; and it will crop up time to time. It may not show up in the chick, as it's a recessive type of gene from what I understand. Hope this helps.

Incubation conditions can cause the cross beak.

Silkies are nortorious for having more cases of cross beak than most other breeds, mainly from all the mixed inbreeding within the silkie flock owners and the hatcheries don't cull for cross beak at all.
