Is a silkie right for me?

1.Silkies have seeing problems.Mainly because the feathers covering there face.
2.Silkies don't do well in hot places.
3.I think Silkies are EXTREMELY adorable

I agree their adorable! I can manage the heat for them, and I'm probably going to trim the feathers back (it depends on how well he does with them). I've wanted a silkie for so long but my mother used to tell me how vicious the silkie her mother had was. I think she is mistaken on the breed based on how positive all the other comments about them are. lol but now that I have a place of my own I thought I'd give them a try. They're just exquisite little creatures!

If you have a rooster from poorly bred lines where they don't select for temperament, the roosters can be nasty.

However, I have really good roosters. I have had a couple mean ones that were not used though.

Silkies are very pleasing little creatures. I have less heat related problems with my silkies, than I do with slw.
I ony have a pair of wyandottes, but of all my birds and breeds, they are the worst impacted by the heat. (Excluding former wry-neck birds, who seem to suffer relapses with too much heat).

My silkies do fine as long as they have water, shade and as needed fans and misters. The ones who free range don;t seem to have any problem with the heat.

Well the dream is temporarily crushed I had set up a time to pick him up and I called right before leaving. They sold him early this morning. I was extremely disheartened. I suppose I could order hatchery chicks, but it's not the same. Anyone know a hatchery that has good looking silkies?
