Is a window latch racoon proof?

You MIGHT be okay if the coon doesn't spend a lot of time playing with it.

Otherwise, keyed locks or locks with springs that at least a two-year old can't depress are the only thing that will work.

I know a lot of posters use a pulley to open and close the pop door, but I think I am going manual with a lock after reading this thread.
My windows have hardware cloth screwed on so latches would have to be on exterior of the windows when closed. I thought the hardware cloth keeps coons out!?.

I have hardware cloth on the inside screwed to my window frames. It keeps the coons out. Just make sure the hardward cloth is screwed down ever half inch of so, so they can't squeeze through.

I actually find little paw prints on the outside of the coop where the try to get in by climbing through the windows. The little devils!!

I used washers with every screw to give a bigger stronger grip. Thanks for the 1/2 inch hint- I'll need to add a lot more and I'm adding boards to cover those screws, too.

Don't be so sure they can't move that block. I saw a coon move hay bales once to get what he wanted. He actually picked them up and tossed them to the side.
