have decided to go out in it and deal with it.mine are all over the yard ranging just like they would be if there was no snow on the ground.they came around the back of the house where they normally get seed and walked around all over out there eating the seed for the wild birds.they acted like there wasnt anything on the ground at all.and theres 10 inches of snow still.anybody else have chickens that are doing that?

We got snow last weekend for the first time and hopefully the last. Was suppose to be 6 inches but we may of got a little less. I went out to the duck pen in the morning as usual and opened thedoor. The rushed out and followed me to the chicken coop as usual. I opened the first coop door and one of the bantams and two big hens rushed out on to their porch. The bantam right into the snow, stopped dead in her tracks and let out a screech. After the initial shock she and the two hens flew back into the coop door like it was a matter of life and death. lol. By the time I had the second coop door open the ducks were already inside the chicken coop also. No one came out for hours, until the snow had melted enough to see the ground again.. It was a Hoot! Wonder what they all would of done it the snow lasted??

MIne have cleared out a 2x4 section just outside their door and thats as far as they go in the snow unless I bribe them..

I live in France and we have really bad weather conditions - I open up my coop and my chickens go crazy to get outside whatever the weather conditions - we have had snow, rain, blizzards and strong winds but my chickens love to be outside with our ducks and geese - they have the freedom tocome and go but seem to prefer to be outside for some strange reason - personally I prefer to be inside with a warm log fire!

Thank goodness for the sunroom we built with old windows- otherwise, my chickens wouldn't get a breath of fresh air, until spring!!!

I live in Rural WNY and we got dumped on again, another 8 inches or so. My poor chickens and turkeys are so sick of being cooped up they have started trudging through the snow. When their little feet get too cold they just hop up onto the front porch and look through my front window calling me so I'll give them treats.
