We have had a pip since about 3pm yestersay. He has broken out a bit more, but membrane seems rubbery and he won't keep attempting to break the shell, just sits with beak out breathing. We have another baby that hatched yesterday and he will need to come out soon. What to do with this guy? Does it need help or more time?

Ok, take the hatched baby out very quickly. I would take out the one in the egg and candle it. Look for any veins. Sometimes you can see them in the small end. If the small end looks clear (yellowy with some goop) then the chick has probably absorbed everything and is ready to hatch. When you do this, and this is very important, do not turn the egg at all. Hold it exactly how it was laying in the incubator, otherwise it will disorient the chick and it will complicate the hatching. Look for the beak to make any yawning motions. That would indicate that there is still yolk being absorbed. Good luck!
