Last week I noticed Bob was staring to loose his feathers around his neck. I'm uploading a pic for your advice

Hi There,

Bob is handsome! Looks like he's either molting or being pecked on. You have nothing to worry about, soon his feathers with slowly disappear on the back of his neck for molting sake. Please keep us updated on if he's molting. Is this Bob's first molt?

Yes I think so. When I got him he was young (March-ish 2017) - and he was missing feathers on his back . Then he turned into the big boy he is now. With a full "head of feathers"!! He only just stated crowing in August. Do they molt this young? Will his feathers grow back in time for winter ?

greetings from upstate n.y. too.. i can say i have 2 going thru a hard molt right now.. dropping feathers by the dozen.. and another is going thru a soft molt.. small bare patches on necks and bums.. but very gradual.. IT IS the time of year..

I think I have a couple of girls who are moody. I call them "The Three bit##%s". They stick together and assault when they please. Bob is even afraid of them. I'm not sure if they are the ones who went after my black and white girl or my SIL thinks it might have been Bob when he was doing what roosters do. Who knew this could all be so complicated!
