Is citrus poisonous!???

Of course, the calcium content of citrus fruits is pretty pitiful when compared to just about any vegetable, but so are most fruits. Replacing a good portion of the diet with them may indeed result in soft shelled eggs. Which is why they should be relegated as treats only. Maybe this is the logic behind the "avoid citrus" mantra?

"Is citrus poisonous?" Well, let me tell you. Over the years I have harbored chickens, ducks, geese, goats, horses and one Vietnamese Pot Bellied pig. And we would give nearly all our garden and table scraps to them and they would eagerly devour all of it. UNLESS it came from our orange tree. I don't care what it was; fruit, leaves flower petals, nobody would touch any of it. So any toxicity it may have is rather moot.
