I have several chicks from 3-6 weeks old and would like to give them a treat of cornbread and some greens along with their chick starter. They are in a coop with a heat light and have free access to their run with lots of dirt to scratch around in. Is the cornbread okay without chick grit, or would regular store bought bread be a better choice? In moderation, of course.

Cornbread is tremendously fabulously fine as a treat. Just as with any treat, feed it in moderation as you said. They don’t even need grit to grind it up in their gizzard, but if they have access to dirt, they have grit in their system.

They do need grit for the greens, but they have that if they are going into their run where the dirt is.
