Is Delousing necessary?

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and I was wondering if my chickens don't have lice, do I need to get delousing powder? What kind of powder should I get for fleas and lice if I get them, or do I need it for prevention? Can anyone suggest an inexpensive website for these products? Thanks

I use food grade DE as a preventive. It serves several purposes. I'm very happy with this product.

Do you leave it in the coop or vacuum it out? What about DE? Would you mix this stuff in their sand to take dust bathes with?
