my neighbor has a bunch of birds and well? some clearly look rooster since the have the rooster tail etc and those all have green iridescence. Some of them don't have the curled up tail yet but they have the start of the green iridescence etc... is the green a good indicator of rooster? or do some hens carry this in the tails? she has all mixed breeds of who knows what. LOL!

i think if it is a black sex link or has a lot of black feathers, they can be green in either sex. but sometimes they just look more rooish.. do you have pictures of them??would she let you take some..to see if byc members can help you out?

Both my black giant cochins had shimmers of green in their feathers
Granted the roo had more but my hen was beautiful in the sunshine all that green mixed in with the black.
